Chef Allyn Hawes, The
Kitchen Elf, has been cooking since age 5 (a total of 51 years). It all started
when his mother taught him her Lemon Meringue Pie recipe. After placing it on
top of the fridge for cooling he learned his first valuable lesson: never leave
food in a precarious position. Before he knew it his sibling
slammed the fridge door and the pie fell face first onto the floor. Since that
first cooking encounter he has learned many other "lessons" that have
contributed to his culinary excellence in the kitchen. Over the years, Chef Allyn has compiled an extraordinary "cookbook" of recipes from various sources. Local restaurants, newspaper columns, and noted chefs have all contributed to his repertoire. Having been dubbed The Kitchen Elf, he now claims "there isn’t a recipe I won’t try once; twice if I like it!" (As long as he can find the ingredients!) Chef Allyn resides in Newton, Massachusetts with his lovely wife Gretchen. When he’s not in the kitchen he tends to his roses and various musical interests.
